Volunteers

JAMI is continuously on the lookout for new volunteers. As the JAMI programme and range of services increase, so does the need for new volunteers.

We are looking for enthusiastic, dynamic and committed people to work alongside the JAMI staff. New volunteer recruits will be given regular training and supervision, if necessary, so that they will always feel a valued and informed member of our team.

Please come and join us. See the Contact section of this site where you can either register or find the number of JAMI House. You can telephone us at any time for more information about volunteering.

Volunteer areas of activity:

  • Working closely with JAMI members who have a mental health problem.
  • Visiting members who live in hostels or who have admitted to hospital.
  • Helping at JAMI House Day Centre, where members enjoy a variety of activities in a safe and caring environment. Offering friendship and support, volunteers provide an invaluable service to members.
  • Helping at JAMI Charity Shop with the sorting and retail of our merchandise. The shop is a valued source of income to JAMI and could not operate without the dedication and support of our volunteers.
  • The raising of much needed funds by either joining an existing fund-raising committee or by starting a new one. Events that are organised enable us to continue as well as expand our services.
  • General ongoing but equally essential tasks such as hosting Friday night and Festival meals at JAMI House, assisting with administration and helping with Flag Days.

Volunteers can either make a regular commitment, or offer to be called on from time to time. Volunteers can and do make a real difference to the lives of the members with whom they work.
